so i downloaded this new game, lemure's blue 2am. i havent started it yet but in order for it to work i had to set my system locale to japanese. not the first time ive had to do it for a game so i looked up just why exactly it needed to happen and i also didnt really understand what system locale even did. basically a lot of japanese games dont support unicode, which is this thing that provides a unique number for every character (letter etc) to encode text and be like a universal standard. so why dont they support unicode? a lot of kanji have the same unicode value as characters in chinese or taiwanese or other languages that use them. so for the characters 2 be interpreted correctly the system needs to be in a japanese locale... or something. i dont really get the intricacies but i went down a bit of a hole reading the wikipedia page for unicode issues and it seems with sinosphere languages there is quite a bit due to how vast and intertwined they are, so it is just easier for a game to not bother with it at all......
honestly im pretty stupid when it comes to downloading stuff so this business with lemures blue gave me some flashbacks to the absolute fucking hell i went through trying to play lamento. and the issue i had with this was literally just not unzippingg all the files loollll.... i think i want to try dling lamento again,at least before i change my computer back to the us locale (idek what impact it has. everything i download now starts off in jp but the language of my display is english so idrgaf.) omg i tried opening ace attorney, the game was fully in japanese and i got so scared even though ii had literally got it off the xbox store like dude. then i was able to read my way to the settings and just switch the game language so yay to that!! yeah. im.yeah.
the thing with lamento, and ig also slow damage is that the issues i had with them crashing or not workingat all were experienced by other people and the solutions either dont exist or didnt work for me. Im deluding myself into thinking slow damage will just magically start working again because yeah sure my problem is because of the intergrated graphics on my laptop but it worked before so maybeeee itll start again! man i played through like the first three chapters with noo issue!! lamento its like more of a likelihood i just fucked up somewhere with downloading it bc there were about fifty billion steps.. and i do want to try running my computer on windows 7. wow im becoming quite the hacker. shut the fuck up man
since i need to badly(BADLY) work on my research paper i spent a couple hours crash coursing myself on piracy, i downloaded everything i needed, then i was ready to work but my highlights and notes from a couple days ago didnt save on any of the documents so that really pissed me the fuck off! but i should read it now. alright, time to write about porn, then hopefully play my ,gay porn game.yeah.
